The media has gone through a lot of changes and has remade itself in only a few decades. Where we are at today with the media, people only thought and dreamed about. In the future the media will no doubt be running our lives. People will depend on the media, even more than we do know. I would like to see the dangers in our media change. I would like for danger in the social media to decrease. That is one thing that makes me uneasy when using the internet. Anyone and everyone can see what you do and when you do it. I would also like the media to stop lying to us! I know that it’s all for the story and maybe even making a deadline but there are things out there that need more attention, rather than blowing up an issue that probably should’ve never seen the light of day. People are going to rely on the media more than ever in the future, look at how far we have come so far, so with regulating what people can say and what is worthy enough should make a difference. We don’t need another “War of the Worlds” stunt with the media. The media personally means alot to me, it’s what I want to do for the rest of my life, and I don’t want to see it tarnished more than what it is at times.
I’ve never been the one who was into politics or what they do. It was always a little boring to me. However, this election year I am able to vote and plan on doing such. I’ve seen and heard alot on the presidential election. I agree and disagree with certain things on each side. I haven’t stayed up on all the polls or watched the news covering the two. The media has done their job with keeping people up to date and I haven’t heard to many bad things about the candidates. There has been alot to stand out to me about these two candidates. Most was humorous that probably exaggerated the truth, like the memes on facebook and videos on youtube that tend to be a bit crude. One thing about Romney that stood out and got alot of attention was his comment on “the 47%”. It raised lots of questions and concerns. It amazed me at first but then I later found out that the information wasn’t accurate and he was saying these things in a room full of Republicans. Not much has stood out to me about Obama. He has done some great things in his term so far, but there are things that could’ve happened that didn’t. I wouldn’t say that the media has influenced my decisions for this election. I have my own beliefs, and when it comes to picking a president I think about what I want to happen for me and what I want to become available, being a college student and all. I also think about my family and what should be available for them to have. With my sisters in school and my mom as well, also one sister has Arthiritis. I look into the future and picture how I want it to be then based on that see which candidate will offer these things. I’d say its been a good election year and I’m anxious to see who will win and become the president.
So far this semester we have covered alot of material in the media. Every class when even talk about what is new in the media. The one discussion that stood out to me the most was the 9/11 discussion. For some reason 9/11 impacts me greatly and I had alot to share that day with the class. My career goal is to be a producer. I want to be both broadcasting and maybe in a few short films or even actual blockbusters. What I took out of the discussion, besides all the different stories and theories, was how the social media has changed. This aspect can help me in the future because I will know that things are changing and always will. I don’t know how I could prepare myself for it but I know that all perspectives play a part in an event. What I mean by this is, I will know how to make a good production. The producer is a very busy person that has alot to focus on, and during 9/11 there really was. There were many events occuring in just one day. And now thinking about it, these really go together. Just think of the movies they have made about 9/11 and how they come up with different stories and perspectives of that day.
So, I go to bed with TV on and I wake up with the TV on. My favorite show right now is Awkward. Tv is the second most media form I use. The most media I use is my phone. I have used it to text. I have probably sent over 200 hundred texts and recieved even more than that. I use my phone for everything. I used to check and double check bus schedules. I also download alot of apps. I just bought a car over the weekend and now I can include radio into my media usage. My presets are what I survive on. #1= 92.3, #2=98.5, #3=91.5, #4=101.5, #5=105.7 and #6=106.9. I tune into every channel atleast once when I’m in the car. When I am working at the movie theater there is a commercial that plays every two minutes it seem like. It makes me laugh everytime I see it and it gets stuck in my head. I wouldn’t say I have patterns, I just have a very routine way that I use my media. It all depends on my mood. Some days I don’t want to be bothered and leave my phone in a different room and only watch TV. Other days, I could be on the computer for hours. Most of the media I use reflects me. Like my age and interest. For instance, the music I listen to and the types of shows I watch, or things I will look up.
